A new ski season has just started.  December 20 marked the first day ski lifts started operating in the Faraya Mzaar ski resort in Lebanon.  Already there is a nice white layer on Lebanon's mountains and more snow is forecasted for the next few days.  What is more Green Monday is quickly approaching us and we are ready for it.   We are have worked hard in preparing our 2008 ski holiday packages to the Faraya Mzaar ski resort so that you can enjoy your winter Lebanon vacations.  With the holiday season already behind us we are continuously updating our web site with all the news regarding the hotels and chalets we work with in Faraya Mzaar as well as the ski resort.  Our packages again include accommodation at the usual hotels we book  for our skier customers, specifically the InterContinental Mzaar Lebanon, Mountain Resort and Spa, the Merab Hotel and Suites , the Auberge Suisse  and the Terre Brune Hotel.  A new addition to the hotels we offer is the Chateau D' Eau Hotel, located between the village of Faraya and the Faraya Mzaar ski area.  It is a nice hotel offering some spectacular views from its recently renovated rooms.  Also for 2008 all our skier and snowboarder customers can enjoy a 20% discount on equipment rentals at all Pic Blanc stores, with one very conveniently located inside the InterContinental Mzaar mountain Resort and Spa, Lebanon.  Just do not forget to ask us for your discount coupon.

Slopes and lifts information:

There are plenty of reasons why our customers prefer the Faraya Mzaar ski resort in Kfardebian, Lebanon for their ski breaks.  More than just Lebanon's proximity to Cyprus, the ski area is professionally run, boasts 80 kilometers of runs, has a capacity of over 20,000 skiers per hour and features 18 lifts and 10 grooming machines.  The difficulty of the slopes varies with very gentle elevation and plenty of wide space in the beginners runs (Baby, Ecole, Donald, Mickey, Pettit Source) to challenging descents in the Rocher, Nabil and Mzaar pistes.  All slopes face North or East.  Please refer to the following table for details on the lifts and slopes available.  Click here to view current conditions of the slopes.

  Accommodation:

 The Faraya Mzaar ski resort area at Kfardebian, Lebanon offers quite a few places for accommodation.  Our experience over the fourteen years we are organizing ski trips to the area has led us to focus on offering "on the slopes" hotels, with the notable exception of the Terre Brune hotel.  The "slopes side" hotels we use are the Intercontinental Mzaar Lebanon, Mountain Resort and Spa offering true ski in, ski out luxury, the Merab Hotel and Chalets and the Auberge Suisse.  These three hotels offer the great benefit to every skier of not having to worry about road conditions and to be able to hit the slopes as soon as the lifts start operating.  This of course comes without compromising on the quality of the accommodation or the prices one has to pay.  A short description of the hotels follows.  To find out more about prices go to the dedicated pages we have for each hotel.

The Intercontinental Mountain Resort and Spa at Faraya Mzaar ski resort, Lebanon

 This five star luxury hotel located right on the slopes of the Faraya Mzaar ski center in Lebanon is the dream of every skier.  The resort hotel offers true ski in, ski out facility and boasts a private slope that connects with the the rest of the ski area, two ski shops, great restaurants, fun activities for kids and gorgeous lounges and facilities.  Not to be missed is the great indoor swimming pool with a view to the garden that is sure to please children.  Click here to find out more about Lebanon's unique InterContinental mountain resort and our ski packages that include it.

The Merab Hotel and Deluxe Suites

  The Merab is a small three star hotel owned and run by the Bteich family.  First opened in 2000 and extended by offering deluxe suites/chalets in 2005 it offers reasonably priced accommodation to the dedicated skier.  To view our packages that feature Merab Hotel and Chalets please click here.

The Auberge Suisse Inn

 This is the granddaddy of all the hotels in the area.  It is very basic but the common areas are very cozy.  It also offers dormitory sleeping at extremely attractive prices.  The owner, although not much involved in the running of the hotel, is the venerable Mr. Naoum.  He is an accomplished skier who has skied in the Himalayas and despite his 75 or so years can give you pointers on how to improve your ski.  if you have a chance to talk to him it can be an experience.  Click here to see our packages that include stays in the Auberge Suisse.

The Terre Brune Hotel

  We offered the Terre Brune Hotel for the first time in 2006 and reaction from our customers has been encouraging.  For 2007 the Terre Brune is introducing a spa and a recreation area.  It is a beautifully built hotel that is perfect for couples.   It offers well appointed common areas and all rooms have spectacular views.  Our winter 2008 package prices for Terre Brune Hotel ski breaks can be seen here.

The Chateau d'eau Hotel

Chateau d'eau has just finished a major renovation and Varianos Travel is happy to introduce it to our customers for the first time for the 2008 winter season.  Located about five minutes from the slopes it is a worthwhile option for any skier considering a skiing holiday at Faraya Mzaar.  Visit our Chateau d'eau page for more information.

Restrictions:

• Holders of passports with an Israeli stamp will be denied entry to Lebanon.

• Passports of customers must be valid for at least six months from date of entry to Lebanon.

• Reservations can only be considered firm with down payment of 25% of package.

  All of our ski packages are quoted in both Cyprus Pounds and euro and include:

• Round trip air ticket with Middle East Airlines (Larnaca-Beirut-Larnaca).

• Beirut Airport-Faraya Mzaar area Hotel- Beirut Airport transfers.

• Accommodation and meal plan as described in each ski package.

  Packages exclude:

• Airport taxes (currently euro 73.77 or Cyprus Pounds 43.18 per adult and euro 65.74 or Cyprus Pounds 38.48 per child under 12 but subject to change)

• Entry visa fees where applicable (USD17)

  Enrollment/other information:

• 25% of package is due within one working day from reservation.

• All packages must be paid in full at least 21 days before departure.

• If children under 12 are traveling, dates of birth must be advised at time of booking.

• Varianos Travel holds the right to change its prices without prior notice.  Changes will not apply to customers having paid for their packages.

• Varianos Travel will not accept any responsibility for any strikes or delays that may affect the trips and are beyond its control.

• We use Middle East Airlines for all our ski packages from Larnaca.  Flight details are:
